About Montaña Amarilla
Montaña Amarilla is a reef break (rocky bottom) on the south coast of La Graciosa, facing SW.
It works best with a W swell and a NE wind, which blows offshore here and keeps the waves clean. It usually breaks best from mid to high tide; at low tide the bottom gets shallow, so take care.
A fast, hollow left over lava that only works with a west swell; it is well sheltered from the northerly trade wind. Reached on foot from Caleta de Sebo (almost an hour).
Recommended level: advanced. Watch out for rocks.
The best months are January, February and December: in January conditions are good on 52% of days, dropping to 1% in summer. Based on wave and wind data since 1993.
