About La Francesa
La Francesa is a sand and rock break on the south coast of La Graciosa, facing S.
It works best with a W swell and a N wind, which blows offshore here and keeps the waves clean. It works on most tides; rocks show at low tide.
It only gets west or south-west swell and needs a fair amount of size; in return, it is sheltered from the northerly trade wind. Several peaks, with a long, hollow right over rocks.
Recommended level: intermediate. Watch out for rocks.
The best months are January, February and December: in January conditions are good on 25% of days, dropping to 0% in summer. Based on wave and wind data since 1993.
