About La Derecha de Almáciga
La Derecha de Almáciga is a reef break (rocky bottom) on the north coast of Tenerife, facing north.
It works best with a north-west swell and a south wind, which blows offshore here and keeps the waves clean. It usually breaks best from mid to high tide; at low tide the bottom gets shallow, so take care.
Recommended level: beginner. Watch out for crowded line-ups.
The best months are January, February and December: in January conditions are good on 31% of days, dropping to 0% in summer. Based on wave and wind data since 1958.
