About El Roque (Taganana)
El Roque (Taganana) is a sandy beach break on the north coast of Tenerife, facing north.
It works best with a north swell and a south wind, which blows offshore here and keeps the waves clean. It works on most tides; at high tide it can turn into a shore break.
Recommended level: beginner. Watch out for rip currents.
The best months are January, February and December: in January conditions are good on 30% of days, dropping to 0% in summer. Based on wave and wind data since 1958.
