About El Arenal
El Arenal is a sandy beach break on the north coast of Tenerife, facing north-west.
It works best with a north swell and a south-east wind, which blows offshore here and keeps the waves clean. It works on most tides; at high tide it can turn into a shore break.
Recommended level: intermediate. Watch out for localism and crowded line-ups.
The best months are January, February and December: in January conditions are good on 34% of days, dropping to 1% in summer. Based on wave and wind data since 1958.
